Omaya Dudin

Omaya Dudin received his Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Lausanne in 2016, where he investigated cell-cell fusion in fission yeast under the supervision of Prof. Sophie Martin. After completing his Ph.D., he joined the Multicellgenome Lab in Barcelona as an SNSF Early Postdoc Mobility and Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellow, studying unicellular Holozoa and the cytoskeletal changes required for the transition from unicellular to multicellular organisms. In 2020, he joined EPFL as an SNSF Ambizione Fellow, focusing on the developmental diversity of Ichthyosporea.

In 2023, he was selected as an EMBO Young Investigator, obtained an SNSF starting grant, and joined the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Geneva as an Assistant Professor.

The Dudin Lab's current research aims to uncover the mechanisms driving the transition from unicellular to multicellular life, with particular emphasis on cytoskeletal dynamics, cell polarity, and adhesion.
